Young soon finds himself caught up between a rift between Earthrealm and Outworld spearheaded by the Elder God Raiden, training alongside warriors like Liu Kang (Ludi Lin) and Kung Lao (Max Huang). This all culminates in a battle for Earthrealm as Young works to save his family and his soul, stopping Outworld's evil machinations in the process.
The new live-action Mortal Kombat film is helmed by director Simon McQuoid and producers Todd Garner and James Wan. Written by Greg Russo, Oren Uziel and Dave Callaham, the story will draw from existing characters and set pieces in the Mortal Kombat universe.
The trailer is a meaty taste of what will go down when Mortal Kombat premieres in theaters and on HBO Max on April 16.
