EA Sports is lacing up its cleats.

On Tuesday, game studio announced a return to the college gridiron with EA Sports College Football, the first college football game made by the developer since 2013.

The new game stems from a partnership with the Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC), the country’s largest college trademark licensing company which represents more than 700 universities. The game will include “more than 100 institutions featuring the logos, stadiums, uniforms, gameday traditions and more that fans have come to know and love.”

"We’ve heard from the millions of passionate fans requesting the return of college football video games,” Cam Weber, executive vp and general manager of EA Sports, said. “We love the energy, tradition and pageantry of college football and I am beyond thrilled to say we are back in development.”

The announcement also addresses the issue of student-athlete likenesses, which played a part in the discontinuation of the original NCAA Football franchise: “While this college game will not include student-athlete names, images and likenesses, EA Sports is continuing to watch those developments closely.”

No timetable has been given for EA Sports College Football’s release, but the studio promises more updates to come in the near future.
