Mobile Games Scroll is a curated weekly roundup of the hottest news from gaming-on-the-go.

Call of Duty Mobile just launched its first season of 2021 with Season 1: New Order. Like all previous seasons before it, New Order includes new maps, a new battle pass, game updates and plenty of rewards. Each season lasts a little over a month. Instead of going with Season 14, Activision decided to restart the numbering with the start of the new year.

Like battle passes before it, New Order features a progression based unlock system where the more you play and earn points, the higher tiers of rewards you unlock. Out of the 50 levels, the free tier gets players the Gravity Vortex Gun, Light Show variations of the Flashbang Grenade and Concussion Grenade and the FR. 556 assault rifle along with healthy offerings of free credits. The premium tier focuses more on cosmetic skins like the cyberpunk-themed Power Line, Chrome, Geist and Enforcer skins. Players can also expect new blueprints for weapons skins.

Completing the seasonal challenge Battle Royale Buff will unlock the SKS marksman rifle, a weapon that won't be available until mid-February. A new and original map made specifically for Call of Duty Mobile comes in the form of Reclaim, a dilapidated holiday shopping complex. Other new additions include three new modes in the form of 3v3 Gunfight, 20-player Attack of the Undead and a new variant of battle royale named Blitz.

Here's what else is happening in the world of mobile games.

A New Open World RPG Emerges

Netmarble's latest announcement involves Blade & Soul Revolution, an open world mobile RPG that's finally seeing a worldwide release after originally releasing in South Korea in 2018. Based on the MMO of the same name on PC, this mobile adaption features five different classes to choose from and a variety of modes for PvP battles and 16 player cooperation raids.

“Our success of Lineage 2: Revolution really showed a strong demand for full-featured MMORPG experiences players can easily pick-up and play anywhere around the world," says Andy Kang, Executive Producer of Netmarble. "We are eager to continue that success with Blade & Soul Revolution’s upcoming launch.”

While an exact release date has not yet been revealed, Netmarble says the mobile game will launch sometime in 2021 as a free to play game. Pre-registrations are currently up on the App Store and Google Play.

Slay the Spire Out on Android Next Week

The card game and roguelike mashup Slay the Spire arrives on Android on Feb. 2. Touch controls to help select and move cards onto the playing field give the game an extra edge over the console versions, all of which originally released in 2019. Slay the Spire made its iOS debut in July 2020. The game will run for $9.99.

Update on Overprime

According to MMO Culture, a small group of indie developers known as Team Soul Eve has been acquired by South Korean mobile games giant Netmarble. The small team is behind OverPrime, a revitalization of the Epic Games' now-defunct online multiplayer battle arena game known as Paragon. After Epic Games released all assets of Paragon online, Team Soul Eve took on the task of revamping the game and turning it into OverPrime. It's unclear what this acquisition means for the project.
