“Never underestimate Coach Lasso.”

Ted Lasso and Coach Beard, characters from Apple TV’s acclaimed comedy Ted Lasso, are set to join EA’s FIFA Face-Off on March 26.

In a tweet announcing their participation, EA tells fans the beloved Richmond coaches will be “putting on a show you won’t forget!”

“Having previously no experience coaching soccer, or football if you will, I think Ted Lasso is the perfect candidate for dominating in an EA SPORTS FIFA esports competition,” said Sudeikis, who portrays Lasso. “That said, Ted’s passion for competing and having Coach Beard at his side in support may just be enough for him to achieve esports glory in the world’s most popular sports video game.”

Other stars confirmed to compete include Trevor Noah, Becky G and Nicky Jam, among others. Popular FIFA influencer Edwin “Castro_1021” Castro is set to host the event.

The FIFA Face-Off is a community-focused show in which FIFA pros and celebrities battle it out in-game to win $25,000 in prizes for community members. It’s a competitive game show that pairs Hollywood stars, FIFA pros and influencers with four contestants from the FIFA community.

“We believe the key to growing our fanbases is tapping into celebrity and unique world-class events to create competitive gaming entertainment for our fans,” said Brent Koning, group director and commissioner of FIFA competitive gaming. “Who better to help build fanbases than Ted Lasso, Coach Beard, Trevor Noah, Becky G and Nicky Jam!”

The event is put on by the FIFA Global Series and is set to air on March 19 and 26 at 9:30 a.m. PT on the EA Sports FIFA Twitch page.
